A GRADE EIGHT pupil has stabbed a teacher, wounding him in the buttocks as he was writing on the blackboard in front of the class.
The pupil has been suspended from the Hlengisa Intermediate School in Nyanga.
Zamuxolo Petros, principal of the school, which takes pupils from Grade R to Grade 9, said he and staff were "shocked" at the stabbing.
The teacher teaches isiXhosa at the school.
Although he was reluctant to speak about it, Petros said the school governing body had arranged a disciplinary hearing against the boy and an outcome was expected in 14 days.
