Fed: Howard says states rolling in cash from home grant
Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD says the states are rolling in money from stamp duty asa result of the federal government's first home buyers' grant.
He says New South Wales is swimming in cash while Victoria is rolling in the bucksas a result of a boom in home ownership rates off the back of the federal government grant.
He's been critical of the state premiers for refusing to back up the government grantwith a reduction in stamp duty and as a result they were reaping the cash benefits.
