Fed: Treasurer to deliver major ageing policy announcement

Treasurer PETER COSTELLO will urge Australians to retire later and make better use
of their superannuation, in a major speech today on the ageing population.

He will unveil a strategy to deal with the challenges posed by Australia's growing
seniors population.

Mr COSTELLO is expected to push later retirement and measures to encourage retirees
to exchange their superannuation savings for a pension, and not take the lump sum and
run at age 55.
